You Don't Need to Know How to Code to Start an AI Business

There's this line in this Medium piece that I keep going back to: "The most successful AI software in 2026 is rarely ambitious. It's specific."

That's it. That's the whole game right there.

Everyone thinks they need some massive, world-changing idea to start building with AI. They don't. The best stuff I've seen, and the best stuff I've built, solves one specific annoying problem really well. That's it.

My sister-in-law needed a better way to study drug names for nursing school. So I built her a flashcard app. Not some grand vision for the future of medical education. Just a thing that helps her study. And it works great.

This article lays out four different AI businesses you can realistically start without writing a single line of code. No-code platforms have gotten good enough that a non-technical person can build real, functional tools just by describing what they want.

A year ago that sentence would've sounded like hype. Now it's just how things work. I watch people do it every day.

The part that I think most people miss is that you don't have to start a whole business. You can just build something useful for yourself. Or your family. Or your work. Automate that one thing that drives you crazy every week. Build that little tool you wish existed. See what happens.

You might be surprised by what you're capable of when the technology stops being the bottleneck.
